[Thinkpad] Keytops?

I replaced a keyboard today on a T450s. Not too bad, once I got past the incorrect diagram showing where the rubber stoppers weren't! But when I got done, I went to test it and the PrtSc key fell off. One of the wee clips is busted.

Anyone tinkered with pulling a keytop off a keyboard to snap it onto another? I have the old keyboard and the PrtSc is OK. I would start with another key to experiment, of course, but any tips would help.

Also, anybody know the story on the strip of rubber stick to the top of the keyboard with a sticky tape strip? It's not on any of the diagrams and doesn't seem to go anywhere.

I "hope* its to take off before laying it down.  It isn't a good design to me.  I'd like to hear of other thoughts.

I have had mostly bad luck replacing key tops but some success too.  Slowly gently prying a ktop off, unlike the way a cat does it is generally what's needed

With the old keyboard you have practice keys to test with. I once had a Q at the S spot on an A31p which worked for more than a year.

So although not designed for human meddling, it does work at times.
