[Thinkpad] Mystery inability to print large files from browsers

Printing very large files (50-100 pgs) from any application except
browsers proceeds normally.

But test file using Chrome, Opera or Firefox:

This file paints the screen in toto just fine, but prints only the first two pages
(of 12) to any physical printer or to any pdf printer object.

In IE8 the file paints the screen without the graphic images (for some reason
I don't comprehend) and prints a 5-page file consisting of text without the
missing graphic images.

Any ideas what's going wrong and how to fix?

Probably depends on your definition of Chrome or Firefox.
I just printed from Firefox on pdf and got 13 pages, apparently clean.
However there are a whole lot of holes where umatrix or privacy badger
blocked external javascript or content (probably ads and trackers), and I
won't activate those now and here for the test.

Bye
